The Great PBG / ALA Debate
There has been much debated about the means used to determine an acute Porphyric attack.
The medical fraternity use a particular criteria to determine an acute attack and that is based on urinary levels of ALA and PBG.
So what happens if you dont have high levels of ALA / PBG but still have the symptoms of an acute attack?
Many in the Porphyric community have been faced with this dilemma.
Battling with obvious symptoms of an acute attack, not everyone seems to exhibit the standard set of criteria used to establish the presence of an attack, thus hindering them in obtaining treatment.
